Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has launched its first registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Northeast India, named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’, in Guwahati. Operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers, the facility can dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, using sustainable and eco-friendly processes.
A Step Towards Sustainable Vehicle Recycling
The seventh such facility in India, Re.Wi.Re aims to safely scrap both passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands. The launch event was attended by Assam ministers Jogen Mohan and Ashok Singhal, along with Tata Motors’ Executive Director Girish Wagh and senior officials.
Minister Jogen Mohan highlighted that the facility will create jobs, boost the economy, and reduce carbon emissions, while Ashok Singhal called it a key step towards a greener Assam. Girish Wagh emphasized Tata Motors’ commitment to responsible vehicle scrapping and sustainability, with its network of RVSFs now capable of dismantling over 100,000 vehicles annually.
Advanced & Eco-Friendly Operations
The fully digitalized facility follows a paperless process and has dedicated stations for dismantling tyres, batteries, fuel, and other components. Every vehicle undergoes strict documentation and scrapping procedures, ensuring compliance with India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
With this initiative, Tata Motors continues to promote sustainable practices, supporting Assam’s vision for cleaner and greener mobility.
