A ten-day Handicraft and Handloom Exhibition was inaugurated at State Academy Hall, Kohima, by Padma Shri awardee Neihunuo Sorhie on March 7, 2025. The event, featuring 20 artisans, will run until March 16.
Promoting Local Artisans
The exhibition is organized by NWVTI Handicraft and Handloom Producer Pvt Ltd, Dimapur, and sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Neihunuo Sorhie praised the displayed products and encouraged artisans to create innovative designs to compete in national and international markets, showcasing Nagaland’s rich textile and handicraft heritage.
Platform for Growth
NWVTI Director Temjenlemla Jamir emphasized that the exhibition provides artisans with a valuable platform to showcase their work. Rajib Chandra Roy, Handicraft Promotion Officer, HSC, Kohima, also attended the inaugural function.
More visitors are expected in the coming days, making this an opportunity to support and celebrate local craftsmanship.
