Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has announced that Meghalaya will complete the recruitment process for 3,000 police vacancies by June 2025 to strengthen law enforcement in the state.
The recruitment drive aims to address the shortage of personnel, which has caused delays in investigations and filing chargesheets. Tynsong assured the Assembly that the Meghalaya Police Recruitment Board is actively working to fill these long-pending vacancies.
Improving Police Infrastructure
To enhance police facilities, the government has introduced a Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund of Rs 50 lakh per district to upgrade vulnerable police stations and outposts.
Additionally, the government will consider setting up a fire service station in Smit to improve emergency response services.
The Director General of Police is personally overseeing efforts to expedite pending cases, ensuring faster investigations and better law enforcement across the state.
